Hi. I’m Meryl.

Hi, My name is Meryl Batlle. I am based in Melbourne and I have worked in more than 500 shoots for the last 10 years. I work on multiple types of projects: cookbooks, packaging, Tv commercials, restaurants social content, food brands, websites, you name it!

I cook, style and have a props collection for hire.

I also do ceramics and have my own collection for sale from time to time. You can find me at Bechamel studio, a photography space for hire, also open to other stylists. you’ll find a fully equipped prep kitchen, ideal for food shoots, my props collection and more!

When I’m not gathering ingredients at the market, cooking or keeping updated with what's going on in the world, you’ll find me on the wheel creating my own handmade ceramics props and working on custom pieces for chefs, restaurants and stylists.

I studied arts in high school, specializing in ceramics and photography, then went into doing a degree in Film & Media. I dipped my toes into food photography but quickly realized that I needed to expand my knowledge of food and travel.

Before coming to Australia 10 years ago, I lived in Buenos Aires for one year and took a Food critic course at a renowned culinary school where I learned about food anthropology, food cultures, ingredients, table settings and cooking while trying to survive in a big city like Buenos Aires for a year.

Growing up between both France and Spain, time spent with my grandparents during the school holidays introduced me to a world of local Mediterranean produce and delicious home-cooked cuisine. One of my grandma’s had a deli growing up, we would never get bored with her, she would wake us up at 5am to go to the market! Those times where my sister and I would end up at the back of her old car with no seats but surrounded by tomatoes, peaches, melons were unique... In the other hand my other grandma was more in tune with nature and slow food, grew up in a little farm and understand produce like no-one else.
